The best way to celebrate Mother’s Day is to make the day feel lighter, sweeter, and full of moments mom will actually love. That’s why we created this study to find the U.S. cities that make celebrating moms a little easier, more meaningful, and a lot more enjoyable.

To build our ranking, we looked at the 50 largest U.S. cities and scored them across two key categories: 1) convenience/relief and 2) celebration. The first measures how easy it is to lighten mom’s load through factors like childcare availability, typical babysitter costs, and the accessibility of house cleaning services. The second looks at how many great ways there are to enjoy the day, based on the density of brunch spots, day spas, flower shops, and Mother’s Day events (such as Mother’s Day yoga, mother-daughter tea outings, and sip-and-paint classes), along with average brunch costs and brunch restaurant ratings.

The cities that rose to the top offer the best of both worlds: practical support that gives moms more time to relax and plenty of memorable ways to make them feel celebrated. Let’s dive into the results!

Key Findings

  • The top five best U.S. cities to celebrate Mother’s Day are Atlanta, GA; St. Louis, MO; Orlando, FL; Cincinnati, OH; and Miami, FL.

Methodology

To identify the best U.S. cities to celebrate Mother’s Day, we analyzed the 50 largest U.S. cities across nine ranking factors related to convenience/relief for Mom on Mother’s Day as well as Mother’s Day celebrations. Each of the nine factors was graded on a five-point scale, with five representing the most favorable score and zero representing the least favorable. Each ranking factor was also weighted by its estimated impact on celebrating Moms. A final score from 0-100 was calculated for each of the 50 cities by averaging together the nine weighted factor scores. Scores closer to 100 indicate better cities for celebrating Mother’s Day.
