The Maids Offers Quick Cleaning Tips for Daylight Saving Time

Melissa Joyce a Customer Service Manager for The Maids talks with Jim Watkins on a program they developed to tackle cleaning.

Why did The Maids develop this program? We conducted research that showed that 70 percent of Americans polled are avoiding cleaning tasks that are beneficial to the health of their homes, such as rotating and cleaning ceiling fans, cleaning vents and registers, and vacuuming and flipping mattresses.

What happens if people don’t complete these biannual tasks? When there’s dust built up on your register covers, in your mattress, on your blinds and your ceiling fans, your family is breathing in potentially harmful airborne particles.

Deep cleaning can be overwhelming. What are some of your tips? We’ve developed free resources that can be downloaded at tips that serve as a guide. The tasks are divided into those that take 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes, so you can choose what tasks you can complete in the time you have. There are resources available for the bedroom, bathroom, living area and kitchen, as well as a biannual cleaning checklist that covers tasks for all parts of your home.

The Maids specialize in healthy house cleaning using our unique 22-Step Healthy Touch® Deep Cleaning System . We use only environmentally-preferable cleaning supplies and our hepa filtration back pack vacuum. We focus on removing dust and allergens from the home , which is ideal for people suffering from allergies and asthma.”

The benefits of microfiber cloths: not only is it better for the environment to use a cloth vs paper towels, but dust adheres to the microfiber cloth better than something you may already use around the home, like an old sock turned inside out.

“Damp wiping baseboards to removes built up dust, as well as cleaning and removing fingerprints from phone receivers, light switch plates and doorknobs with our neutral disinfectant also helps stop the spread of germs.”

Use a dry cloth as to not blow out the light bulb when cleaning it.
Using a wet cloth would cause and also vacuum the lampshades with our special vacuum and attachments. I plan to bring some simple attachments as well.

“Disinfecting your toothbrush holder is as easy as throwing it into your dishwasher to be cleaned.”
