THE MAIDS Home Services Announces 2007 Manager of the Year

Priscilla Garcia, field manager, at THE MAIDS of Phoenix, Ariz., was recognized as the 2007 Manager of the Year at THE MAIDS Home Services National Convention in Scottsdale, Ariz., April 4, 2008.

Garcia’s tenacious work ethic and unmatched integrity earned her the distinction of Manager of the Year for THE MAIDS, a franchised residential cleaning service. The Manager of the Year is a franchise employee that excels in the various aspects of managing a profitable business, including team management, sales ability, customer relations, rapport with employees and effort beyond what is expected. Garcia was chosen from managers at over 160 THE MAIDS franchises throughout the United States and Canada.

“This confirms my beliefs that working hard and doing the best job I can do each day brings rewards,” said Garcia.

Garcia was the lone team member when THE MAIDS of Phoenix franchise opened in November 2000. Franchise owners David and Lynn Jacobson knew they had discovered a jewel in Garcia when she eagerly asked what else she could do after having spent three hours cleaning a small, dirty apartment and returning to the office disheveled.

“A great deal of our early success was due to her,” Lynn Jacobson explained. “She spoiled us and her customers with her superior cleans, efficiency and most of all, with her incredible work ethic.”

Garcia is originally from El Salvador and moved to the United States 10 years ago. She spent two years in California before arriving in Arizona. She began learning English, bought a car and taught herself to drive. Her determination and integrity have been an invaluable asset to THE MAIDS. She is respectful of and respected by her fellow team members and customers.

“My friendships with the customers have developed into caring and affectionate relationships that I believe are mutual since they have been so thoughtful, kind and generous to me,” explained Garcia. “I feel closer to my team members since I work with them every day and it’s like family.”

Garcia’s greatest satisfactions come from observing the coworkers she has trained as they become great team leaders. While her daughter remains in El Salvador and despite missing her immensely, Garcia is proud to be able to provide much more for her than Garcia herself had as a child.

Garcia has aspirations of mastering the English language and someday owning her own franchise. The honor bestowed upon her as THE MAIDS Manager of the Year holds great value for Garcia.

“I was thinking, is this real or am I dreaming?” Garcia questioned. “This is something really big. How did I, after coming from across the U.S., get this big honor? This is of much value to me.”

Garcia received an all-expense paid trip to THE MAIDS National Convention in Scottsdale, a plaque and a monetary gift.
