The Maids of Greater Lehigh Valley has joined forces with Cleaning for a Reason, to make the lives of female cancer patients a bit easier. Cleaning for a Reason is a nonprofit organization serving residents of the United States and Canada with the mission of giving free house cleaning services to women undergoing treatment for any type of cancer by partnering with local maid services. Since 2006, Cleaning for a Reason has grown into a nationwide nonprofit with more than 1,200 maid service partners, including The Maids of Greater Lehigh Valley.

“To be able to help members of our community battling cancer in a time of such distress is very meaningful to us,” said Robert Goodliffe, franchisee in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. “For the women fighting this courageous battle, this is the least we can do to help lighten their burden. Not only is it positive for them, it’s an important experience for our team members as well.”

On every clean, The Maids of Greater Lehigh Valley performs its 22-Step Healthy Touch® clean, which provides a healthier home environment for the families they serve. This includes using safe, environmentally preferable cleaning supplies, modern equipment, and a well-structured cleaning process to ensure every area of the home is refreshingly clean and tidy. The Maids also ensures commonly touched household surfaces like door handles, light switches, faucets, and remotes are disinfected, to rid homes of pesky germs which can wreak havoc on already weakened immune systems. 

“Creating the healthiest home environment possible is what we do, but when it’s for a cancer patient, it’s even more significant,” said Goodliffe. “My family and I have been impacted by cancer, so I truly understand how treatment can change a person’s quality of life, and make tasks once so easy, difficult.”

Since the inception of Cleaning for a Reason in 2006, The Maids offices have collectively donated over 3,851 cleans, valued at more than $714,000.
