Indra Persad-Harragin's four years of dedicated work with The Maids of Brooklyn, N.Y., have paid off: she was named the Team Member of the year at The Maids' 2009 National Convention in Omaha, Neb., on April 18. The Maids is a residential cleaning franchise that cleans for health.

The Team Member of the Year award recognizes an employee who has gone above and beyond his or her job duties, and stands out from the rest of the team members from more than 164 The Maids franchises. Every year The Maids franchise owners from across the U.S. and Canada attend the national convention to attend business sessions, share ideas with other franchises, and recognize outstanding employees and franchise owners. Persad-Harragin was nominated by franchise partner Gale St. John, who owns The Maids of Brooklyn, N.Y.

"I am honored and humbled to receive this award," Persad-Harragin said. "It is so wonderful to be recognized for doing something that I truly enjoy doing."

Persad-Harragin received a plaque and a $1000 check. St. John said that Persad-Harragin is more than deserving of this award.

"Indra [Persad-Harragin] has been by my side for four years," she said. "She shares my vision of customer satisfaction. Her customers describe her as 'an angel.' I describe her as 'the wind beneath my wings.'"

Persad-Harragin said she enjoyed traveling to Omaha to receive the award and meeting with other franchise partners.

"It has been a great trip," she said. "In addition to the pleasure of receiving the award, I've met so many insightful people from other Maids franchises. This has been an outstanding convention."
