While we can’t prevent the flu, together we can slow it down.

During cold and flu season, a regularly cleaned home is a great start for reducing germs and bacteria in the home. By using The Maids, you and your family will benefit from our many health-focused advantages.

Each time a cleaning team is in your home, they complete The Maids professional 22-Step Healthy Touch® Cleaning System. This breakthrough system, together with our environmentally preferable cleaning products and state-of-the-art Back Pack Vacs, will make your home cleaner and healthier.

Our Back Pack Vacs with HEPA filtration can capture up to 99% of dust, allergens, bacteria, dust mites, pet dander, pollen and other pollutants.

It is a fact that many cold and flu viruses can live on hard surfaces for up to 48 hours. So you’ll be glad to know our environmentally preferred cleaning solutions help safely reduce germs and bacteria all through your home. In your bathroom, we clean and disinfect all sinks, tubs, showers, toilets and floors. We clean and disinfect door handles, light switch plates and phone receivers. This ensures bacteria and germs are reduced, especially on commonly touched places.

In addition, as part of our regular procedure, we wear disinfected shoe covers in your home, and disinfect equipment, like our cleaning tools and the vacuum and its attachments between each home.

Our commitment to our clients’ health is the reason we go to great lengths to clean homes using the strictest, most thorough system.

What You can do to Help Minimize the Spread of Germs and Viruses

With or without regular cleaning from The Maids, if someone in your home has cold or flu symptoms, we recommend you follow these smart cleaning precautions:

  • Ask your physician about getting both the seasonal and H1N1 flu shots (they’re different)
  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water
  • Sneeze or cough into the crook of your elbow, not your hand
  • Disinfect commonly touched surfaces regularly using a household disinfectant. Surfaces like doorknobs, appliance handles, remote controls, light switches, phones, and facial tissue box covers should be disinfected, as well as children’s toys. Follow proper usage instructions on the disinfectant’s product label.
  • Use disinfecting spray in bathrooms. Spray disinfecting cleaner on toilet handles and seats, faucets, showers, tubs and sinks. Allow the disinfectant to air dry for several minutes.
  • Make sure to wash items like towels and bedding in hot water with detergent. Be sure not to share these items until they are thoroughly cleaned if someone has been sick in the home.
  • If multiple toothbrushes are kept in a common container, put them through the dishwasher or purchase new ones.
  • To protect yourself at work, use antibacterial wipes on your keyboard, phone and writing utensils regularly, in case others have used them.

We care about your health and want your home to be as healthy and clean as it can be this cold and flu season.
